Find Product Options

The options available are:

  • Search - The Search option allows you to find products quickly when you do not possess a lot of information about a product.
  • A to Z Product List - The A to Z Product List page enables you to view products indexed alphabetically by Product Name.
  • Advanced Search - The Advanced Search can be used if you possess a greater degree of information when you commence a search. It also allows you to search for a specific category of product information. If you are not sure about which specific category of product information to search for, use the simpler Search option instead.

Please see the Glossary page for definitions of terms listed on this page.

Find Product Using Advanced Search
  • Click ‘Find Product’ at the very top of any EudraPharm page.
  • Click on ‘Advanced Search’ that appears at the top of the page, if it is not already selected.
  • On the Advanced Search page, select the required domain (human or veterinary).
  • Enter relevant criteria for each of the information categories you wish to search by.
  • Ensure the correct search filter is selected - i.e. ‘any of the words’, ‘all of the words’, ‘none of the words’.
  • Click the 'Start Search' button to begin your search.
  • A list of products that match your search criteria will be displayed.
  • You can browse the results, which may be spread over more than one page.
  • Results are divided into different languages. Therefore, you may find the product you are looking for in a different language.
  • Click on the most relevant link to view product information.
What Product Information Is Searched?

The Advanced Search function allows you to make specific search enquiries based on the following categories of product information:

  • Domain (i.e. human or veterinary medicines)
  • Product Name
  • Active Substance
  • Excipient
  • Pharmaceutical Form
  • Route of Administration
  • ATC Code
  • Marketing Authorisation Holder
  • Orphan Designation (applies to human products only)
  • Target Species (applies to veterinary products only)
  • MRL (applies to veterinary products only)
Search Filters
  • any of the words
  • Choose this filter option to search for all products containing the words in the adjacent search field. Ensure you separate multiple words of your search query with a space. A successful search returns results containing at least one occurrence of at least one of the words you have entered. This option offers a more general search than the ‘all of the words’ option.
  • all of the words
  • Choose this filter option to search for all products containing all the words in the adjacent search field. Ensure you separate multiple words of your search query with a space. A successful search returns results containing at least one occurrence of all the words in your search query. This option offers a more specific search than the ‘any of the words’ option.
  • none of the words
  • This filter option is only available for Excipient. Choose this option to search for all products that do not contain the word(s) in the adjacent search field. Ensure you separate multiple words of your search query with a space. A successful search returns results that do not contain any of the words in your search query. This option can be very useful for finding products where an individual has a known allergy for a particular excipient. For example, use this option in tandem with an Active Substance search query to find products for patients with an allergy to a particular excipient.
  • with orphan status
  • This filter option is only available for human products. Use this option to find products that have been designated an orphan status.
  • without orphan status
  • This filter option is only available for human products. Use this option to find products that have not been designated an orphan status.
  • with MRL
  • This filter option is only available for veterinary products. Use this option to find products that have maximum residue limit (MRL) information available.
  • without MRL
  • This filter option is only available for veterinary products. Use this option to find products that do not have maximum residue limit (MRL) information available.
  • 3 days
  • This filter option is only available for the ‘Last Updated Within’ filter. Use this option to find products that have been updated in EudraPharm in the last 3 days.
  • 1 week
  • This filter option is only available for the ‘Last Updated Within’ filter. Use this option to find products that have been updated in EudraPharm in the last week.
  • 1 month
  • This filter option is only available for the ‘Last Updated Within’ filter. Use this option to find products that have been updated in EudraPharm in the last month.
Search Tips
The following tips will help you to optimise your search queries:
  • Ensure the correct domain is selected (i.e. human or veterinary product).
  • Try using fewer specific words, if you cannot find what you are looking for.
  • Results are divided into different languages. Therefore, you may find the product you are looking for in a different language.
  • Ensure your search query is correctly spelled. EudraPharm search functionality cannot automatically correct misspelled words and/or eliminate unrecognisable words.
  • Use an asterisk ‘*’ to replace unknown letters or parts of a word. Asterisks can be used at the beginning or end of a word, or in the middle. For example, '*cation', 'medi*', 'med*tion' and '*ica*' will all find the term ‘medication’.
  • Searches are not case-sensitive, so you may enter upper or lower-case letters.
Multi-word Search
Search and Advanced Search work differently when performing multi-word searches.
  • Using the Search function, if you enter multiple words as a search query, only products containing the exact phrase are displayed in the results section. For example, the search query ‘aaa bbb ccc’ will find only results that contain the phrase ‘aaa bbb ccc’. (Note that you may use an asterisk ‘*’ to replace any letter or part of the phrase you are unsure of.)
  • Using the Advanced Search function, the search query 'aaa bbb ccc' will find all results that contain the exact phrase 'aaa bbb ccc' OR 'aaa' AND/OR 'bbb' AND/OR 'ccc'. To do an exact-phrase search, you must put your search query inside double quotation marks. For example, the search query "aaa bbb ccc" will find only results that contain exactly that phrase. Note that you can also search for several phrases in combination, as in this example: "aaa bbb ccc" "yyy zzz". (Note also that you may use an asterisk '*' to replace any letter or part of the phrase you are unsure of.)
  • If a multi-word search does not find the results you were expecting (whether using the Search or the Advanced Search function), try using just a single word in your search query instead.
